Ian and Taylor’s Fall Barnstead Inn Wedding

If there’s one word I would use to describe Ian and Taylor’s Barnstead Inn Wedding, it would be FUN. From the moment the day began, there was so much energy, laughter, movement, and excitement. Taylor knew she wanted her wedding photos to feel candid and editorial, so we intentionally left plenty of breathing room in the timeline to let those moments happen naturally. And, it paid off big time!

Rather than rushing from one part of the day to the next, we had time to play, explore, and make some truly fun photographs together that I know Ian and Taylor will cherish forever.

Getting Ready at the Barnstead Inn

The day started with Ian getting ready alongside his brothers and family members in one of the Inn’s beautiful suites. There were plenty of laughs, a little bit of pre-wedding excitement, and a special moment when Ian gifted each of them a special pocket knife and ties to match the day’s color theme. Ian is one of 11 (yup, you read that right) so having time with family was an important part of the day!

Meanwhile, Taylor was having her own kind of creative fun with her girls!

She gifted each of her bridesmaids an embroidered button-down thrifted shirt with their names stitched onto them, and naturally, we had to take advantage of the beautiful grounds at the Barnstead Inn. Per her request, Taylor and her girls ran through the grass, laughed together, and completely embraced the moment.

A Sunny First Look

Then came the first look. And thankfully, the sun decided to make a beautiful appearance for it.

Ian and Taylor shared their first look outside the Barnstead Inn. Afterward, we spent some time taking portraits and letting the two of them enjoy a few moments together before the ceremony. I absolutely loved how many paths and photo backdrop spots that the Inn had for us to take advantage of!

Because we had intentionally built extra time into the timeline, we weren’t racing through these portraits. We could experiment, walk around, let them move, and create the editorial-inspired images Taylor envisioned while still capturing their personalities. And, to make it sweeter, we finished a bit ahead of schedule and were able to get family and bridesmaids portraits done before the ceremony, too!

A Church Ceremony Just Across the Street

One of the best parts about this Barnstead Inn Wedding was how conveniently everything came together. The ceremony took place at the beautiful church right across the street from the inn, making it an easy walk for the couple and their guests.

Following the ceremony, we took a few more portraits near the pond while their guests enjoyed a coffee bar. The grounds gave us another opportunity to create some of those editorial, fun, and scenic photographs while also allowing everyone a little time to relax and enjoy the afternoon.

An EPIC Barnstead Inn Reception

Then, it was time to celebrate!

Ian and Taylor enjoyed cocktail hour with their friends and family before heading into what was truly an EPIC reception. The entire day carried the same energy it had from the very beginning—joyful, relaxed, and full of people who were genuinely excited to celebrate these two.

What made this wedding so special was that Ian and Taylor never seemed overly concerned with making everything “perfect.” They wanted to have FUN, be present with their people, and create photographs that captured how they felt all day. By leaving room in the timeline for candid moments and giving ourselves permission to be creative, we were able to capture so much more in addition to the usual classic portraits.
